‘So many unanswered questions’: Model dies after being shot while driving to work

Citywide News WLKY

A 28-year-old model and recent Georgia transplant died tragically after she was shot in the neck while driving to work.

Kelsey Quayle moved to Atlanta from California about two months ago to take advantage of more modeling opportunities, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

She was driving to work in the Atlanta suburb of Riverdale on Monday morning when she swerved into oncoming traffic and crashed into two other vehicles. It wasn’t until she was taken to a hospital that doctors realized she had been shot in the neck, severing her spinal cord at the base of her brain and causing severe brain damage, WAGA-TV reported.

“The doctors were doing everything they could to remove the bullet, but she went into a coma and was brain dead,” said Rachel Chotro, on a GoFundMe page to raise money for her older sister.

Quayle’s sister Kayleigh Martin said the family is at a loss for words.

“She was the sweetest person,” Martin told WAGA-TV. “She was humble. She was a model but she never let that get to her head. She loved everybody, everybody loved her.”

Police are investigating the incident to see if there were surveillance cameras that captured the incident, or if any witnesses saw what happened.

Quayle’s family doesn’t know if it was road rage, if she was caught in gun crossfire, or if something else happened.

“We just have so many unanswered questions,” Martin said.

Martin and Chotro are both raising money for funeral arrangements on GoFundMe pages.
